25 November 2010 ¡V Nearly 700 exhibitors from all over the world will be on hand for HKTDC World SME Expo and HKTDC Inno Design Tech Expo next week at the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre. The fairs, which focus on the needs of small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs), open 2 December and continue through 4 December. | ||
A press conference, led by HKTDC Assistant Executive Director Raymond Yip, was held today to present highlights of the two fairs. ¡§With more than 280,000 SMEs in Hong Kong, nearly half of the local labour force is under their employment,¡¨ said Mr Yip. ¡§SMEs provide key momentum for Hong Kong¡¦s economic growth. The two expos will help them raise their global competitiveness, offering SMEs the latest business information and advice, as well as creative design and technology applications from all over the world.¡¨ The fairs, he added, will offer ¡§a variety of seminars, conferences and business-matching sessions to help SMEs find business partners.¡¨ | ||
Tenth Anniversary Edition | ||
More than 300 exhibitors from 43 countries and regions are taking part in the 10th edition of World SME Expo. Fair highlights include the new ¡§Start a Business¡¨ pavilion, which will focus on franchising opportunities. Denny¡¦s, Carl¡¦s Jr, Golden Spoon, Grate American Cookies (GAC), Pretzelmarker, Shoebox and other brands from the United States will introduce their franchise models at the fair. Seminars on ¡§China Trade Practices and Solutions,¡¨ ¡§Global Market Opportunities¡¨ and ¡§SME Management¡¨ will also be held. | ||
Design on Display | ||
The concurrent IDT Expo will welcome more than 380 exhibitors from 11 countries and regions to the three-day event. The fair¡¦s Trade Hall will feature six thematic pavilions: Design and Branding, Global Innovation, New Media, Green and Sustainable Development, Innovation and Applied Technology, and Research and Development. Inspiration Hall, open to trade and the public, will showcase outstanding design from Hong Kong, Japan and Germany. For the first time, Germany¡¦s iF award-winning design will be on display. | ||
Japan Showcase | ||
Nearly 60 companies from Japan, this year¡¦s IDT Expo Partner Country, will exhibit at the fair, presenting graphic, interior, product and technology design in four theme areas. Honda, Nikon, Fujitsu and other major Japanese brands will feature some of their latest products at the expo. | ||
Hong Kong innovation will also be on display at IDT Expo. The Hong Kong Creative Force pavilion will show nearly 50 award-winning offerings from some of Hong Kong¡¦s top advertising, design and architectural professionals. And IDT Expo speakers will include Hong Kong image consultant Tina Liu and Prudence Mak, founder and designer of Chocolate Rain. | ||
